We were so proud of this recent salute honoring Central Oregon Showcase’s vivacious president, Diane Hayes.                             (It appeared recently in the Central Oregonian newspaper.)

Diane has steered our chorus to greater harmony and much delight for some years now, despite her limited eyesight. (Diane was diagnosed with macular degeneration in the 1990’s).

It’s not the first time that Diane has spurred local talent forward. In the 1970s, Coach Hayes started a girls’ cross country team at Crook County High School, which took seven state championships. For her efforts, she was honored as the National High School Track and Field Coach of the Year in 1979.

Now applying her talents to musical matters, besides presiding at Board meetings, Diane works with the chorus to develop the breath skills required for good vocal production. She knows that teaching is best done with delight which she distributes in generous handfuls.

Diane is a fine example of the generosity of those who lead our choruses and I thought her story would be an inspiration to all who read it.

Sincerely yours
