NEWS!!!
The International Education Direction Committee has asked that International Judges begin providing regions with valuable input regarding notable chorus and quartet trends exhibited at contest. This is what the Judge's say after reviewing the Region 24 2009 and 2010’s contests.
Areas for improvement for both the choruses and quartets:
1. Harmony and Interval Accuracy
2. Resonation
3. Vocal Skills and Energy
4. Music Selection
5. Forward Motion
RESOURCES TO IMPROVE IN THESE AREAS
2010-2011 EDUCATION COMMITTEE FOCUS
- Director/music team education - focus on training directors so they may in turn train their staff and chorus members to improve the areas identified by the judges comments. Vocal production, Ear training, music selection, etc.
- Quartet education - provide opportunity to promote and educate the quartets of our region.
- Improving Performance for both choruses and quartets - continuing with PEP program that has already been developed. Begin developing additional programs to reinforce and build on this program.
- YWIH Program - Education to Sweet Adeline Chapters in our region regarding the program. A region wide effort to promote the YWIH program through networking and sharing of information.

Mark your calendars for upcoming events:
Ongoing throughout the year -- Preparing for an Exceptional Performance (or PEP!). This is a fantastic educational opportunity where the Region brings education directly to your chorus in the form of a 1-day workshop. PEP is offered throughout the year to choruses on years where there is not REACH. The focus is on an individual chorus for a single day with one regional faculty/coach running the day. PEP provides for a "day in the life of a performer" -- covering performance skills (which of course includes vocal skills), performance prep/planning, performance practice and PERFORMING! PEP is driven by the judges' comments at contest and the director's goals. If your chorus hasn't had one yet and is interested, please notify me at the link below.
